Easter is a season of celebration. In the ancient tradition of the Christian Church, it is a season that lasts fifty days. The celebration of Easter can’t possibly be contained in a single day.
It’s ok that most folks have packed up their Easter Eggs and put their decorations back in the attic. But what would it look like to keep the party going? Because the real message of Easter is that hate cannot extinguish love. That, in the end, hate WILL LOSE.
So let’s celebrate that. Amid the abundant pain and disappointment surrounding us, we are committed to something different. Let’s celebrate our commitment to a movement that sees neighboring as sacred work. Let’s celebrate that when we gather, act in care, and attend to the way of justice, we are connecting to something bigger than ourselves.
Hate loses. Love wins. Let’s be participants in Love’s victory over hate.
